Sinotruk, the international arm of China National heavy Duty Truck Company (CNHTC), exported 26 heavy-duty trucks to Brazil on 31 May, reports SinoCast. Sinotruk used the Huangdao customs clearance center in the port city of Qingdao, which has created a special simplified export procedure to help speed up vehicle exports. Sinotruk will in the future export 130 heavy trucks every month to Brazil using the Huangdao center.
Earlier this year Sinotruk signed a deal to export 1,500 trucks to Nigeria, marking the single largest deal for heavy truck exports.
Significance: China's vehicle exports to emerging markets are rising, and demand in these countries is a major growth vehicle for domestic Chinese automakers in both the light- and commercial-vehicle sectors as growth within China is slowing.
Beijing is investing heavily in infrastructure development projects in emerging economies in South America and Africa, simultaneously encouraging Chinese automakers to penetrate these. Chinese trucks are sought after in developing nations where laws on safety and emissions are less stringent than in markets in North America and Europe. Chinese trucks are also considerably cheaper than those made in North America or Europe. This year Chinese trucks are seeing a surge in demand in developing countries this year to countries such as Vietnam.
